we started by doing a historical mood board where we printed and stuck pictures down of both mackintosh and Morris and then filled in the blank with our work, either carrying it on or coping it.
we then did a contempary board which included artists of the last 60 years. and we then did the same that we did for the previous one. this mood board consisted of Picasso, Sam Francis and other artist of whom I could find the names of.
we then had to do critical studies (a copy of the picture using the same media that the artist used at the time) of one artist from both periods of time. I chose to do William Morris for my contempary one, and used water colours because that is what Morris used for these particular pieces of work.

for my contempary critical study I did Sam Francis who is from the expressionism movement and his painting mainly consist of paint splatted on the page from various angles and amounts. I like him because he's very creative and colorful and you can see the expression that had been put into his paintings.
We then had to create visual boards which is a mix between all four boards that we have done. for this particular one I chose to do William Morris on the bottom and Sam Francis on the top.
I then chose to do a William Morris design again but in the colours of san Francis, I used coloured pencils for this to give off a colourful vine but also a softness to it.
we did samples today we stared off by doing batik and for this whole process we had to wear an apron and tie our hair back. We started by dipping our tchating in hot wax so we had to be carful because the wax, the wax pot was hot. We then drew with the wax and let to dry. We then painted it with brusho inks and the ink resisted the wax so it only paints where there's not wax. The second one we did was mark making and Thi was just painting using different objects such as forks, spoons, staws. Finally we did puff binder this is lime a 3-D paint and when you paint with it you have to be carful you don't keep going over the same lines as jt is a white paint on white paper. Once we painted with the puff binder we then had to use the heat gun to heat it up so that it reacts and causes the ouff binder to rise up. Becarful as the heat gun os very hot. Once j got back to class I worked back into my batik with coloured oencils and and stitching to give a different effect.
we did weaving today we started off with a peg loom weave. First we started by cutting 10 30cm pieces of wool and threading them through the pegs. Then we tied the first three then the next two, we continued to tie two until we got to the last three where we tied them together.we then got a different coloured wool and started to weave we had to go round the front then the back then the front of the pegs and then do it again going the opposite way. We did this until we got to the top of the pegs, we then pulled out the pegs so that the tied wool came up and became our warp thread and the other wool is the weft thread. We then tied if the ends just like before, three two two three. For a final touch you can pull it apart a little bit.
we then had todo another visual board.. For this on I did coloured pencils in Morris design then did Francis design of the water drips again.
Then I starter my final design where I drew out the picture I wanted to do so I decided to do my first visual board but in the coloured of my second visual board.then I traced the middle but as that is the picture I wanted to do on 4 squares that fit together. I then started to do each square individually by doing puff binder, mark making, batik and hand sewing. I think that the mark making one was the hardest as the paint dont go where you wanted it to go.
